Congratulations Earth Education Project Graduates!

35 Earth Eductaion Project Participants recieved a diploma and a basil plant for their participation and work upon completing the Earth Education Project's first course. Students between the ages of 6 and 23 years old participated in a practical recycling curriculum that covers topics from renewable energy sources to self-sufficient gardening. The project’s overall aim is to heighten awareness for environmental issues among the community and local governmental services as well.

The graduation ceremony also recognised Pachamama participants for their participation in the initial pilot program recycling and producing paper from the trash dump. The workshop will continue throughout 2010 ultimately leaving a fully functioning and sustainable business in the La Chureca community.

December 11th 2009 was a fantastic day, celebrating a community's willingness and enthusiasm to learn about and protect the environment and the fact that they can plan and build their own future with new skills learning from recycling processes and nature.

Congratulations - Felicidades
